In one of my earliest posts on this blog, I talked about Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred as a great way to lose weight. And it was! But I started to get bored of it – especially when I got to level 2 and it was all plank stuff and my abs just weren’t ready for that after recently having a baby.
I had plateaued in my weight loss and felt a little discouraged. I went on a family vacation and just didn’t worry about it for a week which was really nice. So I started looking for new ideas to help me lose weight and I found one that has been working great and want to share it with you!
I found this suggestion on babycenter.com by someone who had made a comment. So I started counting calories on an app and website called My Fitness Pal. You enter in your information, how much weight you want to lose in how much time, and it creates the calories you need to eat each day. Then you add the food you eat and it keeps track of it for you. What I really love about it is that it has most of the food on it already so you can just search and add it. And if you get the app on your phone, there’s a barcode scanner to scan the food right to your food log! You can also enter when you exercise so it adds those calories back in.
I started this about 7 weeks ago and I’ve lost 7 pounds! I only have 6 more pounds of baby weight to go!
The person who commented was also nursing like I still am and she added 450 calories every day so she wouldn’t lose her milk supply. You can create your own exercise and I labeled it nursing and made it be 450 calories. So really I’m eating 450 calories more a day than it says to, but this is all going to my baby and I still am losing weight!
I know counting calories can be super annoying sometimes, but it’s working! If you want to lose those extra pounds, I would try it! It worked for me and that’s saying something because losing weight has always been hard for me.
