Well here we are, jumping into another great season of football! Growing up I wasn’t really a fan of football – too much time in between plays, scoring can be slow, 4 hour games. My family watched the NBA (Go Lakers!). I was used to the quick pace of basketball. It wasn’t until college did I really get into football. I loved going to the games! This will be the first time in 5 years I haven’t gone to the BYU football games, but we’re going to splurge and get cable so we can still watch them.
Something I learned last weekend about my husband is that he just loves football, any kind of football. Even a high school football team of a high school he didn’t go to and has no ties to…So he and his old mission companion went to a Lone Peak High School football game while his friend’s wife and I stayed home to watch the kids – they have twin boys a few months older than the Bammer. It was really fun to visit with her.
The men have decided this needs to become a weekly tradition and that we should come to some of the games too. So why not make a date out of it? Football tickets to high school games are cheap and if you go after half time, they’re usually free! My friend told me they would make caramel apples and bring hot chocolate to the games. Cute!
So I’ve decided to start writing about date ideas in hopes to inspire my husband and I to go on more dates and to help you go on more dates too! So for date idea #1 – head to a high school football game! Yes, games have started! You can make some treats and grab a blanket to bring along – the nights will start to get chilly soon.
