So Sunday afternoon, homemade donuts sounded really good to me. I remember my mom made them when I was a kid and dipped them in cinnamon and sugar. So good!
So I looked up a recipe online and made the dough. The oil was heating in the pan and it was pretty hot. Here goes nothing! I dropped the first doughnut in the pan and it was cooking super fast! And it started to burn. And I guess some dough had stuck to the bottom of the pan and the pan began smoking like crazy! So we turned on the fan and the fire alarm went off!
We opened the windows and took the pan outside. Luckily the fire alarm turned off. I thought once it was on, it was on. I could see the fire department getting here and pounding on the all the apartment doors just to find out that I had set it off while trying to fry doughnuts…nice.
Our poor little baby had no idea what was going on! But she recovered pretty quickly. I was just so glad that fire alarm turned off.
So we tried making the doughnuts again and they just didn’t turn out so well. They were too soaked in oil. Kinda gross. I’m just not good at frying things I’ve learned. Oh well.
