I’ve had a pile of clothes to mend in our laundry room for some time now. The pile just kept getting bigger and it wasn’t something I was really looking forward to, so I usually put it off. Finally this week I decided that I was going to just do it!
I tackled my mending pile! Wahoo!
It actually wasn’t that bad and didn’t take that long. And then the evening I finished, my husband lost a button on his shirt to start a new pile. Oh well, those are the things we moms do right?
This reminds me of a time when I was a freshman in college. One of the girls who lived in a dorm next to us came in our room and asked if either me or my roommate could sew a button back on her coat. I was really surprised that out of 4 people, I was the only one who knew how! I thought it was sad because this is a basic skill that women need to know. Not just because we’re women, but also because it’s something that happens often in life and a useful skill to have. In fact I’m going to make sure my boys know how to do it too! Needless to say, I became the official button sewer that year. 😉
So in case you’re like my college friends and aren’t totally sure how to sew on a button, here’s a great little video how to found on threadbanger.com.
And don’t forget that today is 11/11/11! Enjoy it!
