I love Valentine’s Day! Maybe it’s because it’s a holiday about loving people. Maybe because it brings color to winter. Maybe because it’s close to my birthday. Or maybe because you get lots of chocolate. Whatever the real reason is, I love it!
I wanted to share with you 2 ideas of things you can make your significant other for Valentine’s Day. These are what Alan and I made each other for Christmas, but I think they can be great Valentine’s gifts too.
1. 52 Reasons Why I Love You (I made this for Alan)
First you start by making a list of 52 things you love about the other person. Then you type them all up and print them so that they fit on a Playing Card. Cut them all out and mod podge them onto the card. Then you hole punch each corner and put them through a key ring. And there you have it!
I bought really cheap playing cards and the mod podge made them bend a little. It was fine because you can bend them back, but it might be a good idea to buy a thicker/nicer deck of cards. 😉 Hey we were going cheap this year!
Alan keeps this little list in his car and reads them at stop lights when he’s driving to and from school. I thought that was so sweet!
2. DVD of the Year (Alan made this for me)
Alan gets up really early to do homework and I guess for the few months before Christmas, he spent much of his morning working on this awesome gift for me! Using the program that comes with a MAC, he made a home video of 2011! There were pictures, music, and movies from the year! It was especially great because our daughter was born at the beginning of last year so we got to see her grow up on the video.
Alan made a “Preview of 2011” video and then was also able to put all the rest of the videos we’ve taken with our video camera and put them on the DVD as well. So now we have all our videos from 2011 on one DVD. We want to continue to do this every year so that our videos are easy to find and access. This is a treasure I absolutely love!!!
Of course you can change it to say Happy Valentine’s Day or I love you or something like that. 😉
