Today my baby turned 1! I cannot believe she’s 1! A whole year ago I was in the hospital and she was born only a few minutes ago. It was the strangest feeling to me to know I had given birth. It was pretty easy with my epidural and everything went smoothly. I just loved holding her and seeing her little scrunched face. She had lots of dark hair and was so sweet and small. And now she’s so big! I can’t believe it when I hold her how much she has grown. We love our little Bammer!
Growing up my family had a tradition that the night before our birthday, my parents would decorate our room with balloons and streamers so we would wake up in a decorated room. I wanted to carry on this tradition in our house because I loved it so much! But it didn’t really go as planned…here’s what happened…
It was about 10:30pm and we snuck into the Bammer’s room and decorated while she was asleep. Unfortunately we woke her up and she didn’t fall back asleep until about 2am.
Isn’t that ironic? We do something for her that we think she is going to like (even though she wouldn’t care if we didn’t) and it ends up making it a miserable night for her and for us. My husband thinks there is a bigger analogy here about parenting.
Happy birthday Bammer! We love you even if trying to show that we love you makes life harder sometimes. We hope it will also make it a lot better.
