I love little girl bows and clips and I love making them – even if my daughter insists on pulling them out and I have to trick her to keep it in which usually lasts for maybe 10 minutes and she finds it and pulls it out. At church a few weeks ago I somehow managed to get her to keep her bow in for about a half hour and she didn’t even notice it was there! Until she was playing with another baby who touched it and then my daughter noticed and pulled it out. I don’t know why I try.
Anyway, I put together a cute little St. Patrick’s Day outfit for the Bammer to wear Saturday at our traditional dinner with family and decided that a hair clip was much in need. So here’s what I made! It only took a matter of minutes.
Here’s what you need:
Green pipe cleaner
Hot glue gun
Bend the pipe cleaner to make a shamrock shape. Then cut out the green fabric and felt in the same shape.
Use your glue gun to layer the pieces. The felt will be the bottom, so glue the material on top so they overlap, but are off center.
Then glue the pipe cleaner on the fabric in the same way.
Then glue on the button.
On the back, glue on an alligator clip. You can also glue on a strip of felt to keep it secure. For more instructions on that, you can see how I did it on my Satin Rose Hair Clips.
And there you have it! A super cute and super easy hair clip with materials you probably already have.
And of course, here’s the Bammer insisting that she doesn’t need the bow in her hair. I think I put it in 5 times trying to get a good picture, but this was all I got. You can kind of see those little leggings which I made out of an old shirt that I’ll show you how to make next week!
