As I mentioned before, my toddler likes to stick everything in her mouth. I’m told this is normal…
So when I want to do activities with her, most of the time whatever we’re doing needs to be edible. Last week I posted about edible play dough which was a big hit! And now I want to share with you
Edible Finger Paint!
I originally found this recipe on pinterest from The Imagination Tree. It doesn’t taste good like the play dough, but at least I know all the ingredients are edible.
When I made this I couldn’t believe how the corn starch reacts! It goes from a liquid to a thick pudding like substance so quickly! So it’s a fun science experiment for mom too. Here’s how you make it. (I halved the recipe for my daughter because it seemed like a lot)
2 cups of corn starch
1 cup of cold water
4.5 cups of boiling water
Liquid food coloring
Mix the corn starch with the cold water and stir together. Pour in the boiling water and stir between each cup. Keep stirring and all of a sudden you’ll get the pudding like substance. It’s pretty awesome! Then separate the mixture into different bowls and add food coloring.
I gave my daughter a paint brush and some paper and she went to town! It’s a great way to start art at a younger age. Have fun!
This is what it looks like before the food coloring.
