Here is the craft that I promised!
A Tag Blanket!
My little 5 month old is loving putting everything in her mouth and chewing on everything. I really wanted to make a little tag blanket for her. So I went through pinterest and got some ideas from a few and decided to make this!
She loves it! I made sure to use different fabrics (felt, minky, and cotton) so she could have different textures to feel. I also added some ribbon on the outside to she could play with those and work on her fine motor skills.
What you need:
Fabric scraps of different textures
And here’s how I made it!
I started by cutting 8 squares of the same size. Mine were 6×6, but you can do any size you want! Then I sewed them in twos right sides together.
Then I took two squares and sewed them to two more squares, right sides together, to make a large square of 4 pieces. I did this to the other set also so then I had two blocks of 4 squares.
Next I cut strips of ribbon. Mine were 4 inches long, but again, you can do whatever side you want. I wanted 4 pieces on each block so I cut out 8 of my two colors. Fold the ribbon in half and pin them onto the right side of one of your fabric squares.
Then take your second square and lay it right side facing down over the square with ribbons. Then take the pins from the ribbon and move them to the outside. Then sew around the outside of the square block, but leave a section open so you can turn it inside out.
Turn the square inside out. I had 2 ribbon pieces not sewn on yet so I pinned them facing out now and folded the fabric a little so it all matched. Then I sewed over the hole to seal it all.
I sewed around the edge one last time about 1/2 inch from the edge for a more finished look. And there you have it! It was pretty simple to make and my daughter loves it!
