In February I joined a very mommy friendly exercise group. And it’s been awesome!
A few women from my church decided to meet every morning, Monday through Friday at 9am. We meet at our church, which has a gym, and work out together. It’s been awesome because we use half the gym and let our kids run around the other half. We bring lots of snacks for all the kids since they end up stealing each other’s food anyway. And we bring out toys from the nursery too which is always a bonus for the kids.
I also love it for winter because it gives my toddler a chance to run around and play with other kids instead of being cooped up inside.
We decide as a group what we want to do each day and even have a Facebook group to keep people updated and to see who’s coming and what not. Some days we have up to 11 women there and some days we only have 5. You definitely don’t have to come every day. We just want you to come when you can!
And these ladies are not messing around. And I love it! I played a lot of sports in high school and I haven’t worked out this hard since then! We’ve done P90x DVDs, Insanity DVDs, tabata workouts, Zumba, pilates, yoga, focused on arms, Jillian Michaels, etc.
And I’ve really noticed a difference! My arms and stomach are more toned, I fit better in my clothes, and even had to tighten my belt. Woot!
And of course with having our kids there, we each have times where we need to stop and help a crying child, get snacks out, help them share, or stop them from hitting someone, but that’s part of being a mom!
So some days we have messes like this…cereal all over the floor!
And sometimes you have a kid that just wants to cling to your leg or be held. Or my daughter likes to sit on my stomach while trying to do crunches.
But we also get the cute faces like this! And is it all worth it? Oh yes!
Exercising on your own is hard. It’s hard to push yourself and hard to even be motivated to exercise at all. So if that’s you, and it’s totally me, try getting a group of women together to exercise with! You can go on walks, meet at each other’s homes, or at a church like we do. It’s been perfect for winter and I think we’ll do more outside as it warms up.
