Last weekend I threw my sister a
With the help of my mom of course. We had it at her house and she was in charge of the food. I was in charge of decor and dessert and we each did a game. It was a lot of fun and we had a great turn out! Which was awesome because it was snowing and we had people traveling a ways, so we are thankful they braved the storm to come see Hayley!
So I wanted to share with you the different things we did because they turned out so cute! And she’s getting married this weekend so I’ll be posting about that next week and all the awesome things that we made to decorate the reception hall!
Hayley’s colors are black, gold, and white. So I wanted the bridal shower to go along with that theme.
I sent out invitations from Visaprint and they were so cute and an amazing price!
I only needed 20 and you got 20 for free. Yay!
The decorations I made were simple, but perfect for the occasion! I made a heart chain that went on the mantle and stair railing out of black, gold, and white printed paper that I found at Hobby Lobby. I made one for Valentine’s Day too. To see how to make it, you can go HERE.
I also made some tissue paper balls out of white and gold tissue paper that I tied to the stair railing. Doesn’t it look awesome?
Here’s the tutorial which you can also find on the Martha Stewart website. You need about 8 sheets of tissue paper and you can tie them together at the center with floral wire, but I just used twistie ties you find off your loaf of bread. Because then it’s free! I even had ones that matched!
For lunch, my mom made Olive Garden Minestrone soup, Olive Garden salads, and breadsticks. The beverage was just water, but it had berries, strawberries, and oranges in it and it was so good and refreshing! A little spin on regular water.
Then for dessert I made a triple chocolate cake which you may have seen featured on my blog last week. You can find the recipe HERE.
The first game we played was a get to know Hayley and Hay and Jay’s relationship. So cute that they’re Hay and Jay right? I found some questions online and then added some of my own. After that, we had Hayley tell their love story.
The second game we played, you put a paper plate on your head and draw Hayley in her wedding dress. You CANNOT look at your drawing until you are done! Once they were all done, they were collected, and Hayley chose her favorite. It’s really fun to see everyone’s and great because no one expects them to be good. 🙂 Sorry the picture is a little blurry. I forgot to take a bunch during the actual party!
Then we opened presents and ate dessert! Aren’t presents always the best part of the party? Well presents and dessert. Those are my favorite. 🙂 Hay and Jay got some great stuff and money to buy a washer and dryer for their first apartment. Hooray!
And of course we can’t do a post without a picture of my little helper! Her dad took her older sister to a birthday lunch during the party and they had a blast!
Overall everything looked and went great! I hope you can grab some ideas off this too for the next bridal shower you throw!
