Here is the 3rd decoration we made for my sister’s wedding reception.
Chalkboard Message Boards!
You can find our other decorations here:
It’s really simple to make and super cheap!
What you need:
Plastic Platter (from the dollar store)
Gold spray paint
Hot glue gun
Black acrylic paint
My mom found some awesome plastic platters at her local dollar store. They were silver and we needed gold to match my sister’s wedding colors. So my dad spray painted all of them. But you can use whatever color you want.
After they were dry, we painted the bottom of the platters black. Now I know there is chalkboard paint that is black, but they didn’t sell the paint at Hobby Lobby, just the spray paint. They do have chalkboard paint that’s clear that makes any surface a chalkboard. That can be fun if you don’t want it to be black.
After the paint dried, we coated the black area with the chalkboard paint. It says to paint vertically, let it dry, then paint horizontally.
Once the chalkboard paint was dry, my mom hot glued ribbon on the back and tied a bow at the top so that they would hang from the sconces at the reception. You can write whatever message you want! And there you have a super cute decoration on the cheap!
