I love cookies. All kinds of cookies. Especially around the holidays.
Some great traditional holiday cookies are shortbread cookies. I love that they’re so versatile! You can eat them plain, dipped in chocolate, or make them into a crust for a delicious pie or tart.
My girls love helping in the kitchen no matter what I’m cooking and I love to find things that they can help me make! One of the easiest things to do with little helpers in the kitchen is to dip cookies in chocolate. My girls loved this! And then we sprinkled some Christmas sprinkles on top. Delicious!
All you need is:
Walker’s Shortbread Cookies (festive shapes)
1 cup chocolate chips
Variety of sprinkles
Wax or parchment paper
I love these cookies because they’re already in fun holiday shapes ready for a party or family gathering! They have bells, stars, Santas, and Christmas trees.
First put your chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl or glass measuring cup. Put it in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time making sure to stir in between every time. Make sure not to put them in too long or the chocolate will ball up. Once the chocolate is smooth and creamy, dip your shortbread cookies in it. I used a spoon to help me spread the chocolate where I wanted it to go and to scrape off the excess. Feel free to cover as much of the cookie as you want.
Place the cookies on your parchment paper. When you’re done dipping the cookies, shake your sprinkles over the chocolate covered areas. Then let the chocolate cool and they’re ready to eat! So simple and so delicious! And of course they go great with a nice warm cup of hot chocolate. Yum!
