I’m sure many of you have heard of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir – whether you’re a Mormon or not. This choir is world renown and is amazing!
During Christmastime, they put on a free concert in Salt Lake City with over 80,000 audience members over a few nights and have amazing guests join them to display their talents as well. I was lucky enough to be able to go to one of the Christmas concerts a few years ago and they just blow you away! It’s not just the amazing choir, but they have dancers, a bell orchestra, the Temple Square Orchestra, a famous singer, and another amazing guest to tell you a Christmas story.
Last year the choir invited Alfie Boe – an English tenor who has performed in Broadway and as Jean Valjean in London’s 2010 performance of Les Miserables. He sings Bring Him Home on the CD and DVD and it’s absolutely amazing! He has such a wonderful voice!
They also invited Tom Brokaw – an anchor from the NBC Nightly News – to tell the story of the Candy Bomber (which is also a book Deseret Book published this year and I got to review). Such an great story about how one American man touched the hearts of hundreds of Germans after World War II.
Along with these two men, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and accompanying orchestras had great songs to share. From classics like Jingle Bells and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing to Sing Noel! and What Shall We Give? It’s truly a wonderful Christmas event to see and listen to.
You can see this amazing live performance on the Home for the Holidays DVD which is available at Deseret Book. And you can also get the Home for the Holidays CD and listen to all the wonderful songs that were shared. Here’s a little video to give you an idea of what’s in the CD and DVD.
