I LOVE hot chocolate.
Once the temperature starts dropping I promptly head to Costco and buy a big can of Stephen’s hot chocolate. They are definitely my favorite. And now my two year old asks me for hot chocolate all the time. Apparently she loves it too. 🙂
I would love to receive hot chocolate as a gift from a friend or neighbor.
You can never have enough right?
So I came up with this super cute neighbor gift idea and it’s so easy to make!
All you need are:
Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa
White Chocolate Hot Cocoa
Chocolate Chips or Mini Marshmallows
Optional: Chocolate and pretzels
To make the cute layers, I just alternated putting in milk chocolate hot coca mix and white chocolate hot cocoa mix. Stephen’s makes both, but I’m sure you can find other brands as well. When layering, dust from the hot cocoa mix will get on the sides of the jar so I just wiped it with a dry paper towel.
Once you’re layering is to your desire, fill the rest of the mug with chocolate chips or mini marshmallows. This is a fun little mix in and a lot of hot cocoa mix fits in there so that way you can spread the cheer a little farther. Hey we’re all trying to save money during the holidays right?
The mason jar mugs I got have a cute little decorative top so I placed a piece of square fabric over the open jar and then screwed the lid on tight so it would all stay in place.
Then using ribbon and this really cute heart ornament (all from Deseret Book’s Zions Mercantile line and really reasonably priced), tie a cute bow with the dangling ornament around the top of the jar.
And there you have a cute and simple neighbor gift! If you want to get a little fancy you can dip pretzels in milk chocolate and then drizzle them with white chocolate. Delicious! And a great compliment to hot cocoa.
