Welcome to the final day, Day #6 of Kick Off to Summer Week, a multi-blogger event co-host by Lauren of From Gate to Plate and Summer of Summer Scraps. With summer quickly approaching and Memorial Day in a few weeks, we wanted to make sure you had plenty of ideas for your Memorial Day activities. For the past six days we have been serving up a variety of different appetizers, main dishes, desserts, decor, printables and more all centered around the up-coming Memorial Day. We hope you enjoyed all of these wonderful ideas and thank you for tuning in each day. We have great prizes up for grabs and you will not want to miss out on any of the days! To end the Kick Off to Summer Week, I wanted to share with you a really cure vintage craft that’s perfect for Memorial Day and the 4th of July.
So I have a really crafty aunt named Kaylyn. She’s amazing and comes up with incredible things! This was actually her idea. We had a get together at her home and made some awesome patriotic crafts and I wanted to share one of them with you!
So the hardest part of this craft is the page folding. Find an old book with a red or blue cover at your local thrift store if you don’t already own one. Then fold each page in half by taking the edge of the page and folding it towards the spine of the book.
Cover the inside of the book cover with scrapbook paper of your choice if you don’t like how the cover looks.
Then find some vintage patriotic pictures online or at a craft store and glue them on the inside of the cover of the book. We also used glittery star stickers.
The “land of the free” in the middle is individual letter stamps on cream paper with red chevron paper behind it. You can glue those onto a coffee filter or even tissue paper. We dabbed the coffee filter with red ink. Then glue that directly onto the book.
Then grab one or two small American flags and place them in the space between the spine of the book and the paper and you’re done! A perfect patriotic craft to add to your decor.
Don’t forget to check out the rest of my blogger friends who’ve participated in this great event and show them how much you’ve enjoyed this week… drop them a line and show some love 🙂
