I love temples.
I’m sure most of you know that I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as Mormons) and in our religion we have temples where we make sacred promises to God. It’s a place of peace, a place away from the rest of the world, and a place where we go to learn how to return back to our Father in Heaven and help our ancestors before us do the same. To learn more about LDS Temples visit Mormon.org.
I love being able to go to the temple and I also love being able to take my family to the temple. If you are not a member of the LDS church and live near a newly built Mormon Temple, go to the open house! It’s amazing! There’s such a feeling of love and peace there that I love feeling.
Before a temple is dedicated and only members of the LDS church can go inside, there is an open house that is open for the public. This is a chance for anyone to come inside the temple and see what it looks like and learn about what we do there.
Once the temple is dedicated, LDS church members usually can’t go inside until they are 12. So open houses are a special time to be able to take my whole family inside. My kids loved it! They were so excited that they got to go in the temple too! I loved being able to share something so important to me with them.
Alan and I were married in the Bountiful temple.
I was able to go to the San Diego temple open house as a child, participated in helping with the Redlands, CA temple open house, and have been to these other open houses:
Draper, UT Temple
Oquirrh Mountain, UT Temple
and now Ogden, UT Temple
There will be a few more in Utah coming up and I can’t wait to go to those as well!
The Ogden, Utah Temple was dedicated yesterday! And to celebrate a few bloggers and I teamed up with Ringmasters to give away two awesome gifts!
